2023 AGM

Dear Friends and Mountaineers,

As you all know we held our first AGM on the 9th August which was attended by 7 Mountaineers, two visitors and a member of the press.

During the morning we had a short presentation on the Financial position by Brian Smyth, followed by an update from David Wood. During a brief lunch we had a talk from David’s brother, Michael, on the G5 loco project that he is involved in at Shildon, before moving to North Bay Railway Engineering Services (NBR) in Darlington.

NBR was established by David Humphreys and Mark Ashton in 2013 and has grown to an impressive operation. A site tour is a must but of course the crème de la crème was Mountaineer.

The following pictures show what has been achieved.

The financial position is as follows, which has a good balance, but we need more:

IncomeExpenditure
Directors – £20,000 deemed a loan£42,000
Regular Contributors – 41 individuals£74,110
Paypal£14,584
VAT Refunds£18,754
Boiler£47,994
Back head and throat£6,564
Promotions£551
Wheels and axles£7,320
Accountant£4,170
Cylinders£12,096
Axleboxes£11,141

Pattern supply and castings£3,224
Frames£17,844

£149,648£113,909
Financial Overview courtesy of Brian Smyth

In summary after deducting our expenditure from our Total income, we are left with a current balance of £35,687 as at the end of July 2023. Some of this money is ringfenced as a result of particular fund raising.

David Humphreys said today that given the funds Mountaineer could be completed in 2024. With your help we will achieve this.

Kind regards,
David RC Wood
